Flute Masters Summer Camp for Kids
A Half-Day Flute Summer Camp for Elementary and Middle School Age Children. 9 am to 12 pm

Have a budding young flutist? Join us for our Flute Masters camp, utilizing the world renowned Suzuki approach to music education, suitable for mixed classes of children from ages 7-12. Drop-off optional. Hosted and designed by professional flutist and teacher, Hallie Chandola; this flute summer camp is tons of fun while playing music from Hot Cross Buns to Mozart Concerti! Students will practice sight reading, learn music history, theory, and understand complex rhythms with Dalcroze Eurhythmic activities. Students must be playing at least Hot Cross Buns on a standard flute for this camp. Parents are invited to a performance on Friday at 11:30 am to hear what we've been up to! Students learn the following: Day 1: Hot Cross Buns fantasy, scales basics, scale game, and playing by ear. Featured composer: Johann Sebastian Bach Day 2: Mary in the New World, transposing, introduction to the flute family, Dalcroze simple vs complex meter, understanding articulation, featured coposer: Felix Mendelssohn, and articulations game Day 3: Phrasing and how it works, Fireflies pieces, rhythm reading with language, featured composer: Zoltan Kodaly, name that tune game Day 4: DYNAMIC contrast, sight reading keys Day 5: Jeopardy! Supplies include: Custom Tote Bag to hold your flute and a folder for all of your music. Optional flute rental for just $20 more for the week. Music stands are provided during class when needed. The Suzuki Flute method, developed by Shinichi Suzuki and Toshio Takahashi, is a lineage of classical flute playing from Marcel Moyse, a great French flutist, and upon whose playing the Suzuki Flute method is based. Suzuki Method is a world renowned method of music education whose founding principles include beginning students very young, parental involvement and immersion, daily listening and practice, mixed-age group class training, spiral development including revision and review, and a strong emphasis on beautiful tone and posture. Hallie Chandola is a teacher trained in Suzuki Method and is a profound believer in the benefits of Suzuki training, producing beautiful musicians in the Tampa Bay area since 2012. Cost: $260 for first participating child, $220 for siblings A drop-in camera, zoom link, and recordings available. Parents will receive notes on what we have covered each day. Cancellation Policy
Class is subject to cancellation if minimum enrollment is not met. In the case of a canceled section or course, a full refund will be given, minus the cost of any materials that are not returned in new condition. If you wish to cancel this registration, you may do so up to one week before the start of classes for a full refund. No refunds will be given if cancelled after the classes have started.
